  • They established a great reputation for their business and for themselves.

  • They increased their income by up selling and using back-end sales.

As a person who’s new to this, it is essential that you understand how the above steps could be beneficial to you as you work at creating a successful online business. Read further and find out how each step will help you to achieve the kind of results you are looking for.

Step 1: Find a Need and Fill It

When it comes to creating an online business, the first, and most essential thing to do before doing anything else is to identify a need and then work at catering to it. It is advisable that your online business idea be something that you love and are comfortable doing. Identify a market that is fertile and which shows great potential and create your business around it.

Step 2: Design and Build an Easy-To-Use and Interactive Website

The website is the gateway to your business. Once you have identified your market and have a product to offer, it is important that you create a website that is simple and interactive. The website needs to be one that easily captures the attention of users and provides great information. Otherwise, people will not spend too much time on it and that is something you do not want happening as you will be losing out on getting new customers.

Step 3: Use Search Engines to Acquire and Drive Buyers To Your Website

One of the best ways to get people moving towards you for services and products they are looking for is by using searching engines to influence their decisions. Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising is one of the best and easiest ways of getting new traffic to a new website. By employing PPC to drive traffic towards your website, you get the power to test different keywords, selling approaches, prices and headlines that boost your marketing approach and at the end of the day, this boosts your rankings on search engines and helps you grow your numbers.

Step 4: Establish a Great Reputation for Website

Considering that people today are using the internet to search for information, it is important that you consider providing information about yourself, your products or your services on other sites for free. Doing this helps build a great reputation for your website. In no time, you will be getting more traffic and better rankings on search engines.

Step 5: Use E-Mail Marketing to Turn Visitors into Loyal Customers

If it’s your desire to build a thriving online business, it is important that you consider using email marketing to reach out to potential customers with the hopes of turning them into loyal customers. To do this, you will need to consider building an opt-in list for your business. An opt-in list is where you give potential customers a chance to sign-up for your newsletters that provide essential information about your products, services and news.

Basically, once they opt-in, your subscribers and customers give you the permission to send this information; meaning that you have the power measure their response, to build relationships with them, and to save much more as this marketing approach is much cheaper and more effective.

Step 6: Increase Income through Upselling and Back-End Sales

One of the most essential marketing strategies when it comes to internet marketing is developing your every customer’s value. At least 36 percent of all people who have once purchased from you, will at some point buy from you again if you took the time to follow up on them. Closing the first sale is without a doubt one of the most difficult things to do and is also one of the most expensive. That is where upselling and back-end selling will come into the picture.

By doing this, the likelihood of past buyers buying from you again is made higher. As such, you should consider offering products that complement their initial purchase, loyalty coupons and complements for their purchase.

More Thoughts to Ponder

When it comes to building a thriving online business, one of the most essential things to do, and which hasn’t been mentioned above, is working on your sales copy.

You need to create sales copies that: arouse the interests of the users; describe solutions your products provide; prove your credibility as a reliable problem solver to problems they are experiencing; talk about your products and how they can beneficial to the users; provide a guarantee that their needs will be catered to; and which create an urgency, pushing users towards purchasing a product or service.

By employing the above processes when starting a business online, creating a thriving online business is almost guaranteed. Take time to consider doing all the above things for a chance to become a successful online business entrepreneur.

  1. I really liked the insight you gave to establish a great reputation for your website. As you suggest, people today are using the internet to search for information, so making sure your website is up to date and helpful in the type of information that it gives out will ensure that customers will be more willing to use and come back to your website. That being said, would you suggest using professionals to design and moderate your website? Thank you for the help!

    • Andy Baxter says:

Yes, I highly suggest that you hire professionals to design your website because as you and I mentioned, we need to establish a great reputation through our websites. You don’t want to look like you created your website hastily or just picked a template at random. Your website should represent your business well, especially in terms of color scheme (color says a lot!) and the total look… is your business formal or on the fun side? But, hey, if you know how to design your own website, who can stop you from doing so? You, as an owner, know your business best. Same goes with moderation; I think this is the easy part and you can always do this yourself. Thanks for the great question, Lauren! Glad you liked this article.
